This sampling is from a series of over 20 short videos created for the NO ON 2117 campaign, the response to the Washington state initiative (I-2117) that was mounted to repeal Washington’s historic Climate Commitment Act. Ranging from 30 to 90 seconds in length, the videos featured a wide spectrum of voices that included doctors, NGO leaders, local and state politicians, Governor Inslee, labor leaders, tribal leaders, business owners, educators, transportation advocates, and scientists. This excerpt from PARIS TO PITTSBURGH takes us to Adjuntas, Puerto Rico where the organization Casa Pueblo has been working to transform the energy landscape by providing education and resources about renewable energy—along with social and cultural services—all from their community center powered by solar energy. They were a crucial energy oasis in the aftermath of hurricane Maria, when the rest of the country was plunged into darkness, and have continued to be an important voice in growing the movement for renewable energy across the island and the rest of the Caribbean.
